Wondering why Forcelandia is a great option and how it differs from other conference out there! We’ve come up with four great reasons to attend:
Developer Focused: Forcelandia is the only community led Dreamin’ event that is focused solely on the programmatic side of Salesforce. We know there are many GREAT conferences for admins, but we are not one of them. While you might not get tips on creating the best workflow or permission set, you will be fed knowledge from the absolute best and brightest Salesforce developers and architects out there. Learn how to debug lightning components, integrate with Heroku, and get the latest on SFDX. And that just scratches the surface of some of our sessions this year. One thing you can count on when you attend Forcelandia is there is no lack of high level, technical sessions. And beginning developers – we haven’t forgotten about you with our Admineloper track for beginning developers! Check out the sessions!
Interaction between speakers and attendees: Tired of attending conferences in a theater meant for 30,000 people and the speaker is a tiny speck on the screen? Your search is over! Because an old school auditorium can only hold so many people, only the best of the best (aka you- if you sign up) get to rub shoulders with our amazing speakers. And that doesn’t mean it has to end after a session – our speakers will have a Q&A after most sessions. What sets Forcelandia apart is our focus on letting attendees shoot the breeze with speakers. We have several rooms reserved at the Kennedy School where speakers can congregate, grab a drink, and have a friendly chat outside of the confines of a breakout session. Save your code reviews for Dreamforce (or someone getting paid to help you with your problems), but meet up with our speakers in a friendly environment where you can dive a little deeper and have a more informal conversation.
Location: Portland is a fantastic city because there is something for everyone, and I mean everyone. If you’re in to wine tasting and the country – we’ve got that! If home brews and a local chill zone are your thing- we’ve got that, too! Or if you’d prefer gourmet coffee and a kayaking trip down river followed by lunch traversing waterfalls – we have an abundance of those. Portland is a known foodie city; you can find food trucks serving gourmet meals or quick eats from all over the world. Or if eating local and organic interests you, visit one of our many farmer’s markets held on almost every day of the week during the summer. The phrase “Keep Portland Weird” still applies – one minute you’ll see an iconized family walking down the street with their dog just like in any suburb in North America, turn the corner (In June) and there’s a city-wide Naked Bike Ride. Want more weirdness? Our venue is one of the most unique in the country, so read on my, fellow Forcelandian!
Venue: Forcelandia is held annually in the Kennedy School. Before thoughts of JFK and the 60’s enter your mind, consider instead a bygone era of Babe Ruth, the discovery of Pluto, and being deep in World War I. The venue is a renovated elementary school from 1915, spruced up and converted into a hotel, brewery, coffee shop, restaurant, and one of the coolest movie theaters you’ll ever see in their renovated auditorium. Keeping its natural charm, you get to step back in time while discussing tech of the future. We’re not joking, every attendee loves our venue.
In the end, Forcelandia is totally different that other conferences you have been to. With our focus on development, it’s one of the highest level conferences you’ll attend in the Salesforce world. With our forests, waterfalls, wine country, craft beer, and all around amazing food scene you should spend a few days being a tourist after the conference and blazing your own trail!
